This is me recanting what I wrote here and here. I owe a big apology to Asher Bauer, whom I don’t know personally. Rather than being a perpetrator of abuse, he seems to have survived a very difficult relationship with the people who are now accusing him of abuse.
I wish I had googled the whole thing before (rather than after) reblogging the allegations, but my habit and principle is to always believe survivors. Considering both sides of this story, the original allegation made against Bauer seems to have been part of the abuse that he was undergoing as a result of his relationship with these people. The accounts of the relationship are highly triggering. Please read the links only when you feel safe and stable enough to deal with triggers!
